The culture of Trinidad and Tobago

The Tobago Fest - mini-carnival.

The Tobago Fest encourages many visitors to the island.
It was first held in 1998 and now takes place annually from October 3 rd. to 5th.
This festival which has a carnival theme and includes a parade of the bands, art, historical exhibitions and fetes, is especially attractive to Trinidadian masqueraders because of the quite low hotel rates available at this time.
Band-leaders, masqueraders, disc jockeys and musicians from all over Trinidad and elsewhere journey to Tobago to join in the fun and excitement.
Although the event is low-keyed compared to Trinidad Carnival, the Tobago Fest is something you should plan to see.
The Tobago Fest opens with a Festival Queen competition in Roxborough, followed early next morning - 4 a.m., by a J'ouvert parade in the village of Plymouth.
Later, there is a parade of costumed bands on the streets of Scarborough, the island's capital.
On the following day a beach fete at Store Bay that includes bikini and wet t-shirt competitions climaxes the Tobago Fest.
